Tips:
- Put the harder tasks early (i.e. presentation and controlled practice).
- Provide a variety of different activities.
- Activities should be snappy and fun.
- Always have an emergency activity up your sleeve in case you have extra time.
- Highlight which activity you will cut out if you run out of time.
- Try to get them off their seats, and moving around.
- Have a laugh.
- Start by asking them what they learned last class.
- Never give out homework at the last minute in a rush. Hand it out about 10 minutes before the end, and explain what you want them to do.
- End by asking them what they’ve learned today.
- Last task should be relatively easy and practice the new target language. They should leave feeling happy that they have achieved something.
- The last two link the lessons. This linking will help aid memory and demonstrates structure. All of which give the student confidence in their teacher.
